Shekel’s commitment to the ORI collaboration demonstrates our dedication to helping end users deliver solutions in an open, scalable, and flexible way, making data available and actionable.

Shekel Brainweigh’s Retail Innovation Division is proud to be a part of the Open Retail Initiative (ORI), a collaboration between industry partners led by Intel and joined by Dell, HP, JD.com, Verifone, and other leading technology players. This collaboration aims to enable the rapid development and deployment of Internet of Things (IoT) based solutions to improve how retailers operate.

ORI partners will develop solutions that allow retailers to implement advanced technologies, particularly focused on the accessibility of in-store data. This will accelerate solution development and reduce technology costs, thereby improving return on investment (ROI) for retailers. Shekel’s commitment to ORI demonstrates our dedication to helping end users deliver solutions in an open, scalable, and flexible way, making data available and actionable.

An estimated $1.1 trillion in revenue is lost annually worldwide in the retail sector due to overstock and out-of-stock issues. ORI is working to create smarter retail stocking solutions to help retailers recapture lost sales and drive operational efficiencies from the supply chain to the store floor. ORI is the first and only open-source IoT edge platform available to the retail market.

Shekel’s patented technology has been recognized by the industry and will be key to the transformation of the retail sector. Our technology is being brought to the next level with a suite of autonomous retail products that solve inventory issues and allow the exact identification of quantity and location of individual products on retail shelves in real time. By monitoring inventory and transmitting data about item movements, Shekel helps retailers improve inventory accuracy, understand consumer habits, and ultimately boost sales.

The Open Retail Initiative was launched at the National Retail Federation’s conference and expo in New York City on January 13, 2019. Shekel is excited to be part of this industry-changing collaboration and looks forward to continued success in the future.
